Reimagining Capitalism with Harvard Business School Professor Rebecca Henderson

with Paul Van Zyl

VENUE

Regent Street Cinema

307 Regent St, W1B 2HW

The world’s greatest economic system has lost its moral compass. It’s time to build a new capitalism that works for society as a whole.

Free market capitalism is one of humanity’s greatest inventions, and the greatest source of prosperity the world has ever seen. But it’s also on the verge of destroying the planet and destabilizing society in its single-minded pursuit of maximizing shareholder value. Now, populists and political profiteers are harnessing public dissent for a system that is leaving many behind, but offering little or no real solutions.

Rebecca Henderson, McArthur University Professor at Harvard University, joins How To Academy to argue for a new framework — one that can simultaneously make a positive societal impact by confronting the realities of the environment and the need to address social and economic inequality while also delivering sustained financial performance.

In Conversation with Paul van Zyl, founder of The Conduit and a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Rebecca will explore how we can build an economic model to bring prosperity and wellbeing to society as a whole. She’ll consider how the worlds of finance, governance and leadership must evolve, and provide a pragmatic foundation for navigating this moment of unprecedented challenge — and extraordinary opportunity.
