Five Rules for Rebellion – a Guide to Changing the World Ourselves

Sophie Walker In Conversation With Hannah MacInnes

‘One of the most visionary women I have ever met’ – Emma Thompson

From climate change to gender equality, poverty to human rights, we can no longer rely on those in power to take the action our society and planet so urgently require. Sophie Walker – activist and journalist, political party leader and ‘modern-day suffragette’ (Evening Standard) – is here for those of us who are fed up and disempowered but uncertain of where to begin.

Drawing on tips from other leading activists and her own experience of ten years of activism – as a disability rights campaigner, founding leader of the Women’s Equality Party, co-director of the Activate Collective to encourage women to run for office and CEO of Young Women’s Trust – Sophie will offer a 5-step journey to incorporating activism into our lives.

Sophie will teach us to see activism as a positive lifelong learning experience, rather than a series of pitched battles. From escaping the numbing effects of despair, to learning how to channel our anger, arming ourselves with hope, engaging with differing views compassionately, and enduring in the face of challenges, we’ll see how to convert our confusion and impatience into a force for good.
