From Child of Our Time to Your Life In Their Hands, The Human Body to Superhuman, Robert Winston is instantly recognisable as the trusted face of British science broadcasting, a national treasure whose talents as a communicator enable to him to evoke the astonishing wonder of life with an unrivalled facility.

But making documentaries that explore the rich tapestry of scientific knowledge is only one of his innumerable talents. One of the world’s foremost experts in human fertility, a chair at Imperial College and the author of over 300 scientific papers, he is a pioneer of pre-implantation genetic diagnosis to identify defects in human embryos, and the recipient of twenty-three honorary doctorates.

He is also an Labour politician sitting in the House of Lords, an award-winning theatre director, the author of bestselling books for adults and children, and a patron and trustee of many of the country’s most prestigious science institutions and medical charities.
